HOW TO MAKE VIETNAMESE LEMONGRASS CHICKEN RICE BOWL

Lemongrass chicken

Lemongrass is a staple herb in Vietnamese cuisine. The chicken is infused with the fragrant and aromatic flavors of lemongrass and other spices then marinated and stir-fried. It can be paired with fresh vegetables like carrots , cucumber and cilantro with a drizzle of chili garlic sauce.

Description

Lemongrass chicken is an aromatic and zesty dish, it  combine the citrusy notes of lemongrass with the umami richness of fish sauce and the heat from chili peppers. It's a delightful and well-balanced dish. It can be paired with rice or vermicelli noodles.

  1. Marinating the Chicken

    Vietnamese cooking emphasizes on balancing  flavors . The dish include a sweet, salty, sour, and spicy taste. Lemongrass chicken exemplifies this balance with the combination of sugar for sweetness, fish sauce for saltiness and umami, lemongrass for sourness, and chili peppers for spiciness. This dish is relatively simple to prepare and doesn't require elaborate cooking techniques. It's a quick stir-fry that can be made in a short amount of time.Add the chicken pieces about 5 or  6 chicken thigh boneless. Add the marinate and let it marinate overnight for best result but min 1 hour. This will allow a more intense flavors.

  2. Cooking

    Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken pieces. Heat  chicken until it's cooked through and slightly caramelized, cook on one side for about 5-6 min then flip cook other side for about another 5-6 minutes.if the pan becomes too dry during cooking, you can add a little more oil to prevent the chicken from  sticking.once cook let it cool and slice to pieces. 

  3. Dipping Fish Sauce

    The dipping sauce really elevate this dish and  plays a crucial role in adding flavor and enhancing the overall meal.  

  4. Serve

    I like to serve the lemongrass chicken over steamed rice, and garnish with fresh herbs such as cilantro, shredded carrots  cucumber , and drizzle the garlic chili fish dipping sauce over it . Instead of rice it can also be pair with vermicelli noodles
